Management Team
Jean Paul Rasschaert - President and CEO
 

Mr. Rasschaert is a senior executive with over 20 years medical device experience in business development and sales and marketing in the global market environment. He is a serial entrepreneur with five medical device start-up companies. Mr. Rasschaert’s first success took place in 1996 when InStent was acquired by Medtronic for $268 million. Mr. Rasschaert was part of the initial team who started InStent (coronary stents – Eden Prairie, MN)) in 1992. He was instrumental in launching InStent worldwide operations. Later he helped Cardima (electro-physiology catheters – Fremont, CA) to launch its sales and marketing operations and to go through a successful IPO in 1997. He was part of the initial team that started Timm Medical Technologies (urology products – Eden Prairie, MN) in 1998 and led the sales and marketing department. Timm Medical Technologies was successfully purchased by Endocare in 2001. Mr. Rasschaert was also part of the team who launched CardialCare (ventricular assist device – St Louis Park, MN) and was an executive at Percardia (percutaneous bypass – Merrimack, NH). Prior to these positions, Mr. Rasschaert worked at the Medtronic European Headquarters (Brussels, Belgium).

 
Travis Murphy - Chief Financial Officer
 

Mr. Murphy has over 20 years experience as a senior financial executive with several start-up and emerging medical and technology companies. In addition to providing leadership in finance and accounting, administration and human resource management, Mr. Murphy has been instrumental in the development of long-range strategic plans and forecasts, raising equity and securing debt to support development and growth of several businesses.

 
Earl Bardsley - VP Research and Development
 

Mr. Bardsley has over 20 years experience in the medical device industry. This experience includes R&D, operations and clinical engineering. Prior to Epitek, Mr. Bardsley was Director R&D for Edwards Lifesciences and Sr. Director Product Development for Percardia. He holds numerous patents for medical devices. Mr. Bardsley holds a MMS in Manufacturing Engineering and a MS in Plastics Engineering, both from the University of Massachusetts.

 
Robert Swain - VP Clinical and Pre Clinical Studies
 

Mr. Swain, Ph.D., joined Epitek in August 2006. He has held numerous management positions in the medical device industry over the past fourteen years. Prior to his current position, he was Vice President of Clinical and Pre-Clinical Research at Percardia Inc.

 
Werner Hampl - VP Operations & RA/QA
 

Mr. Hampl joined Epitek in March 2007, adding 36 years of management experience, 18 in medical device operations and regulatory compliance executive positions. This includes implantable vascular access devices at Strato Medical, a start-up acquired by Pfizer; cytology devices at start-up Cytyc, now a public company; international production and distribution of IVD’s at Behring, merged with Dade; and early start-up work at Percardia and POC Assays. He earned a BS Industrial Technology and an MBA at Northeastern University.

 
Hans Steinmann - VP International Sales and Marketing
 

Mr. Steinmann is a seasoned executive who has 20+ years of cardiac surgery and minimally invasive endoscopic surgery sales and marketing experience. For several companies, Mr. Steinmann has build and managed large distributor networks all over the world, launched customer services and run manufacturing plants with outstanding results.
